Kabale-In a tightly contested race, Enid Atuhaire Origumisiriza has emerged victorious over the incumbent Woman Member of Parliament for Kabale District, Hon. Catherine Atwakiire Ndamira, in the just-concluded National Resistance Movement (NRM) party primaries.

Origumisiriza secured a total of 53,713 votes, representing 52.3% of the vote, while Hon. Ndamira garnered 47,246 votes, accounting for 47.7%. The results were officially announced at 9:23 a.m.by the Kabale District NRM Registrar, Babra Ainebyona, who declared Origumisiriza the party’s flag bearer for the 2026 general elections.

Speaking to journalists shortly after her victory, Origumisiriza thanked her supporters and pledged to work collaboratively with other NRM leaders in Kabale to strengthen the party and promote unity.“I am grateful for the trust the people of Kabale have placed in me,” she said. “I commit to delivering accountable, inclusive, and people-centered representation. Together, we will champion meaningful change and development for our district.”

Origumisiriza emphasized her readiness to serve all residents regardless of political affiliation, promising to focus on improving key sectors such as education, health, infrastructure, and youth empowerment.

Her victory sets the stage for what is expected to be a highly anticipated parliamentary race in Kabale District during the 2026 general elections.
