Kabale–Counsel Elvis Twenda, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) flag aspirant for Ndorwa East County Member of Parliament, has called on the people of Ndorwa East to take full advantage of ongoing government programs aimed at improving household income.
Speaking today while addressing residents of Kitohwa Parish in Kaharo Sub-county, Kabale District, Counsel Twenda emphasized the importance of adopting cash crops such as coffee and Hass avocado—crops currently being distributed by the government—to uplift household livelihoods.
“Government is now giving out coffee and Hass avocado seedlings, which have proven to be highly profitable.
For our communities to develop, we must engage in sustainable income-generating activities, and cash crops like coffee are the way forward,” Twenda said.
He urged farmers to plant these crops not only for personal benefit but also as a pathway to economic empowerment for the entire region.
Twenda stressed that coffee is currently one of the most lucrative crops on the market and could significantly contribute to improving living standards if adopted widely.
As part of his campaign agenda, Twenda pledged that *Team Elvis* would work closely with government agencies to ensure that farmers receive the necessary support to boost agricultural productivity in Ndorwa East.
In addition to his economic message, Twenda called for peaceful and issue-based politics ahead of the upcoming elections.
He warned against divisive and sectarian politics, urging voters to prioritize unity and development.“We must focus on peaceful elections and avoid politics of identity. Development only comes when we are united and work together for the common good of our communities,” he said.
Counsel Elvis Twenda’s remarks come as part of his wider effort to mobilize grassroots support and promote sustainable development initiatives across Ndorwa East.
