Kabale- As the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party primaries draw near, Ndorwa East County Member of Parliament aspirant Counsel Elvis Twenda has called on the electorate to embrace peace and reject violence during the political season.

Speaking to residents at Kyanamira Sub County headquarters, Twenda addressed locals from the villages of Kabisha, Bugandara, Kishekyera, Rwanyabiboga, Kabatogote, and Nyamiyaga. He emphasized the importance of maintaining order and unity as the party prepares for its primaries slated for 17th July.

“Voting will take place on just one day,” Twenda reminded residents. “It is not worth causing chaos or destroying the fabric of our community. We should focus on casting our votes peacefully and ensuring that the process is free and fair.”

He urged supporters to refrain from engaging in acts of violence or intimidation, stressing that such behavior does not reflect the values of his campaign team. “We are committed to genuine, peaceful elections. Violence is not part of Team Elvis,” he affirmed.

Twenda also pledged to restore NRM’s representation in Ndorwa East, asserting that the constituency has suffered from years of poor leadership due to the absence of an NRM-aligned Member of Parliament. “It’s time to take the NRM party back to Parliament,” he declared.

“Ndorwa East deserves effective representation, and I am ready to serve the people with integrity and dedication.”

The NRM primaries are expected to be highly competitive as various aspirants vie for the party’s endorsement ahead of the 2026 general elections.
