Kabale Police Arrest Clinical Officer Over Murder at Local Lodge

Kabale-Police in Kabale District have confirmed the arrest of a 24-year-old clinical officer in connection with the gruesome murder of a woman at Cheers Public and Accommodation in Kabale town on July 29, 2025.

The suspect, identified as Mwesiime Clinton, a resident of Hamurwa Town Council in Rubanda District and a volunteer at Hamurwa Health Centre IV, hails from Mitooma District.

According to ASP Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region Police spokesperson, the deceased — Kobusingye Leonada, 45, from Ahataba Village, Shebeya Parish, Hamurwa Sub-county, Rubanda District had checked into the lodge with an unidentified male companion. She was later found murdered, and the man fled the scene.

Maate revealed that Mwesigwa was arrested on August 9, 2025, at a church in Nakawa, Kampala, where he was reportedly confessing to the crime and seeking prayers. Following his arrest, he was detained at Jinja Road Police Station before being transferred to Kabale Central Police Station on Wednesday.

“Upon completion of investigations, the suspect will be produced before the courts of law,” Maate confirmed.The motive behind the killing has not yet been disclosed, and police say inquiries are ongoing.
