Kasese-Police in Kasese District have reported a serious road crash that left an unspecified number of passengers injured along the Kasese–Mbarara Road at Kyababinga Trading Centre in Kasese Municipality.

According to Rwenzori East Regional Police spokesperson SP Nelson Tumushime, the incident occurred at about 1:00 pm on Friday, 15 August 2025. It involved a maroon Toyota Wish, registration number UBE 795/T, which was travelling from Kasese towards Bwera Town.

Preliminary police reports indicate that the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to overturn and roll several times. Injured passengers were rushed to various hospitals in Kasese Municipality for treatment.

Tumushime noted that the crash happened barely a day after another tragic accident in Kasese on 14 August, which claimed the lives of Mbusa David Remigius and Maate Mathias, a Senior One student, who were travelling from Ntungamo to Kasese.

Several others were seriously injured in that earlier incident.

SP Tumushime urged motorists, drivers, and pedestrians to strictly adhere to road safety regulations, especially during the school holiday season.

“Failure to follow traffic laws will lead to arrest and prosecution in courts of law,” he warned.Police say investigations into Friday’s crash are ongoing.
