Kabale-Twesigye Leopold, the current Central Division councillor in Kabale Municipality, has been duly nominated to contest for the Central Division LC3 Chairperson seat on the People’s Front for Freedom (PFF) party ticket, after what he described as a long and challenging process to secure the required signatures.
Twesigye, who was nominated at the District in Makanga Hill of Central division of Kabale municipality, will now face off with the NRM party flag bearer, Henry Nasasira, in what is expected to be a heated contest.
Speaking to journalists shortly after his nomination, Twesigye pledged to work collaboratively with all stakeholders to promote the development of Kabale Municipality.
He emphasized that the Central Division was the heart of the town and needed strong opposition leadership to enhance service delivery and accountability.“As our party slogan goes freedom for all we must ensure that everyone is provided with the freedom and opportunity they deserve,” Twesigye said.
However, he criticized the Electoral Commission (EC) for what he termed as delays and challenges in the verification of signatures, which prolonged his nomination process. He urged the commission to employ more competent personnel to make the exercise smoother and more efficient for candidates.
When asked about the PFF not fielding a presidential candidate in the forthcoming general elections, Twesigye said he believed in unity and called on fellow opposition members to rally behind him in order to champion development in the municipality.
