Rubanda -Renowned journalist-turned-politician Brighton Arinaitwe has been declared the winner of the Rubanda District LCV Councillor seat representing Habuhutu Town Council in the just-concluded NRM party primaries.

Arinaitwe secured a total of 1,384 votes, representing 54.83% of the total ballots cast, earning him a decisive victory in a closely watched race.

The win marks a significant political milestone for Arinaitwe, who recently transitioned from the media industry into active politics.

His campaign focused on transparency, improved service delivery, and amplifying the voices of local residents at the district level.Speaking shortly after being declared winner, Arinaitwe expressed gratitude to voters for entrusting him with the mandate to represent them.

“This victory is a reflection of the people’s desire for fresh leadership and responsive representation. I am deeply humbled and ready to serve,” Arinaitwe said.

He pledged to advocate for better infrastructure, improved health services, and youth empowerment programs in Habuhutu Town Council.The election drew significant interest given Arinaitwe’s media background and his growing popularity among youth and community groups.

His win is seen by many as a sign of shifting political dynamics in Rubanda District, with voters increasingly backing candidates with a track record of public engagement.The NRM primaries in Rubanda were largely peaceful, with voter turnout in Habuhutu Town Council considered encouraging.
