KABALE-Dan Nabaasa Musinguzi City lawyer has declared his intention to contest for the Kabale Municipality Parliamentary seat in the 2026 general elections.
Nabaasa picked nomination forms today at the Kabale District Electoral Commission offices on Makanga Hill in Central Division, Kabale Municipality.
Addressing journalists shortly after, he said his top priority will be ensuring the full operationalization of Kabale City, which he described as key to unlocking growth in infrastructure, increased funding for public services, job creation, and investment opportunities.
He noted that Kabale, as the commercial hub of Kigezi, is strategically positioned to benefit from Uganda’s planned mega projects, provided the municipality embraces visionary leadership.
Nabaasa pledged to champion the fair and equitable use of natural resources, including iron ore, to directly benefit the people of Kabale.
He warned that opportunities could slip away if the region fails to build the skills, infrastructure, and institutions necessary to harness them.
The lawyer also promised to support teachers, health workers, and small business owners by lobbying for better opportunities to supplement their incomes and improve livelihoods.
He further emphasized that his leadership would go beyond legislation and oversight, saying he intends to serve as a lobbyist, fundraiser, and networker mobilizing investment, inspiring young people, and fostering partnerships with government, civil society, and the private sector.
“Together, we can build a prosperous future for Kabale and the entire Kigezi region,” he said.
Nabaasa, who previously contested for the same seat in the 2010 NRM primaries but lost to former Tourism Minister Sarapio Rukundo, will now face off with incumbent MP Dr. Nicolas Thaddeus Kamara of the People’s Progressive Front (PFF) and former MP Andrew Aja Baryayanga of the NRM
