Kampala’s live music scene is about to get a serious jolt of energy as Abeeka Band steps into a bold new chapter, hosting it’s very first self-produced concert, Roots & Vibes.

Set for May 2 at the Ndere Cultural Centre, the event isn’t just another night of music. It’s a statement. After five years of grinding through stages, perfecting their craft, and building a loyal fan base, Abeeka Band is now taking full control of its narrative and inviting some of Uganda’s most celebrated voices along for the ride.

The lineup reads like a who’s who of live performance royalty. From the soulful stylings of A-Pass and Ziggy Dee to the timeless voices of Henry Tigan, Joanita Kawalya, and Rachael Magoola, Roots & Vibes promises a rich blend of generations and sounds under one roof.

Kawalya’s special appearance, in particular, is expected to add a nostalgic yet powerful touch to the night.

Behind the scenes, the band, made up of Pages, Kevin, Michael, Allan, and Dr. Trey has been quietly shaping one of the tightest live acts in the country. Known for their high-energy sets and musical precision, they’ve become a staple on Uganda’s performance circuit. Now, they’re betting on themselves.

Backed by brands like Tusker Malt Lager and The Singleton, the concert signals growing confidence in Uganda’s live band culture. For the sponsors, it’s more than visibility. It’s about fueling a movement. One where real instruments, raw vocals, and immersive experiences are reclaiming space in an industry often dominated by digital hits.

Talent Africa Group CEO Aly Allibhai sees it as part of a bigger shift. Live music, he says, is evolving—becoming more intentional, more curated, and ultimately, more rewarding for both artists and fans. Abeeka Band’s move to headline their own concert is proof that session musicians are no longer content playing in the background—they’re stepping into the spotlight.

For fans, Roots & Vibes offers more than performances. Expect reimagined Ugandan classics, tributes to musical icons, and the kind of electric atmosphere only a live band can deliver.

Tickets are already on sale via MTN MoMo, with general entry at Shs50,000. Premium table packages complete with drinks and shared platters are also up for grabs, catering to those looking to elevate their concert experience.
