Stanbic Bank Uganda has been named the “Best Investment Bank in Uganda” at the prestigious Euromoney Awards for Excellence 2026.
The London-based financial magazine announced the global honour on July 17, 2026, recognizing the lender’s role in financing the country’s most transformative economic projects.
The award comes in a landmark year for the bank, which, as the anchor subsidiary of Stanbic Uganda Holdings Limited (SUHL), is marking 35 years of operational excellence in Uganda.
Commenting on the award, Mumba Kenneth Kalifungwa, Chief Executive of Stanbic Bank Uganda, said the recognition validates the bank’s purpose.
“For us, Corporate and Investment Banking is where our purpose ‘Uganda is our home; we drive her growth’ most truly comes alive. It is the engine through which we empower our local corporates to expand their operations, create meaningful jobs, and contribute significantly to domestic revenue,” Kalifungwa said.
He added that it is also where the bank partners most closely with the Government of Uganda to deliver essential national growth projects.
“2025 stands as a key highlight of that journey, for which we are glad to be recognized by Euromoney,” he said.
Reflecting on the bank’s milestone, Kalifungwa said the international recognition was timely.
“As we celebrate 35 years of service, this international recognition from Euromoney could not be timelier. It serves as a powerful validation of our journey from our inception to becoming the institution that stands today as a bedrock of Uganda’s financial system. It reaffirms that our strategy of fostering shared growth remains as relevant and effective now as it has been for over three decades.”
The award acknowledges Stanbic’s prowess in structuring complex financial solutions, ranging from transformative infrastructure financing to supporting industrial sectors that anchor Uganda’s economy.
Paul Muganwa, Executive Director and Head of Corporate and Investment Banking (CIB) at Stanbic Bank Uganda, credited the team.
“This accolade is a testament to the talent, resilience, and technical sophistication of our CIB team. They work tirelessly to turn complex financial challenges into sustainable opportunities for our clients, ensuring that we move beyond mere transactions to foster long-term prosperity,” Muganwa said.
“I am incredibly proud of how our team continues to innovate, delivering bespoke, ‘Keep Growing’ solutions that empower our clients to reach their potential. This recognition is a celebration of the high standards we set for ourselves every single day.”

The Euromoney Awards for Excellence are widely regarded as the gold standard in the global banking industry. The award cements Stanbic Bank Uganda’s position as the preferred partner for large-scale economic development and corporate growth in the country.
