The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) Battle Group 45, serving under the African Union Support and Stabilisation Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM), has reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with Somali security forces to strengthen joint operations against Al-Shabaab and enhance civilian protection.

This commitment was underscored during a meeting between the Battle Group 45 Commander, Colonel Justus Musenene, and Somali security officials held at the Battle Group 45 Headquarters in Barawe.

Col Musenene emphasised the importance of cooperation in countering the evolving tactics of the Al-Shabaab terrorist group, noting that joint efforts remain critical to sustaining security gains in the region.
