Bongoyinge Harriet was crowned Miss Tourism Uganda Northern Region 2026 after emerging top among 13 contestants drawn from districts across Acholi, Lango, and West Nile.
The grand finale, held on Saturday night at Lavington Park in Lira City, brought together a lively mix of culture, intelligence, beauty, and purpose. The contestants impressed both the judges and the audience with confident self-introductions and a tough question-and-answer session focused on tourism. Their responses reflected a solid understanding of Northern Uganda’s attractions, heritage, and tourism potential.
Delafraique Rita finished as first runner-up and also won the Miss Popularity title after charming the crowd. Atim Patricia Prosper was named second runner-up and further recognized as Mature Multimedia Queen, an award that celebrates grace, experience, and digital influence.
The newly crowned queens will now represent Northern Uganda at the national competition, where they are expected to promote major tourism sites including Kidepo Valley National Park, Murchison Falls, Aruu Falls, and the Nyero Rock Paintings, alongside the region’s rich cultural heritage.
The night ended in celebration, with cheers, ululations, and cultural performances filling Lavington Park as supporters rallied behind their new tourism ambassador.
The event was officiated by Hon. Mercy Lakica, Woman MP for Alebtong District and Minister of State for Children and Youth Affairs, who served as Chief Guest. She urged the winners to represent the region with excellence and determination at the national level.
Hon. Lakica also praised the organizers, saying such initiatives can help address youth unemployment by creating opportunities for skills development and exposure. She pledged her support to the regional winner, describing her as a national figure who deserves full backing.
Lira City Resident City Commissioner Laurence Egole, who has attended the event several times since his appointment, applauded the pageant for celebrating both intellect and beauty, saying it goes beyond physical appearance to recognize substance and capability.
