Museveni phones Ruto as world leaders congratulate Kenya’s President-elect

Leaders from across the divide have congratulated President-elect William Ruto with Uganda’s Yoweri Museveni calling the new leader.

Museveni made the phone call yesterday evening before taking to Twitter to congratulate his friend. Museveni is Ruto’s mentor.

President Museveni praised Mr. Ruto for winning in the statement on Tuesday, assuring him of a strengthened relationship between the two nations.

“On behalf of all Ugandans, I congratulate Your Excellency Willaim Samoei Ruto upon your election as the 5th President of the Republic of Kenya,” said Museveni.

“I wish to reassure you of Uganda’s commitment to continue partnering with Kenya in advancing regional and continental agenda through the East African Community, African Union and other multilateral platforms.”

He also expressed optimism that his close partnership with Ruto shall yield greater achievements for both nations.

“Our bilateral cooperation will score tremendous achievements and I look forward to working more closely with you. God bless Kenya. God bless East Africa.”

In more congratulatory messages on social media, Kenyans exuded confidence in Ruto’s leadership as they lauded the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

Wife Rachel Ruto in her message quoted a bible verse in 1 Corinthians 15:57, “But thanks be to God! He gives us victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

“Congratulations Bill. Kenya has spoken!” she said amid excitement.

Notably, the Cabinet Secretary for Tourism Najib Balala is the first leader of the opposition to congratulate the president-elect. In his message, he said,” Congratulations on your victory Dr William Ruto, President-Elect, Republic of Kenya. It is by God’s grace and the valid will of the people, you were elected President. You have the ability to transform this country for the betterment of all.”

He further wished him the best as he prepared to assume the responsibilities of such a high office.

A letter by President musiveni

President of the Southwest State of Somalia, H.E. Abdiaziz Hassan Mohamed, “on behalf of the people of SWS of Somalia, I want to extend my congratulations to His Excellency Dr William Ruto as the elected 5th President of Kenya. Kenya is a neighbour and an important partner for Somalia. We pray for peace and prosperity for our brothers & sisters in Kenya.

Speaker of the Parliament of the Republic of Uganda and Bukedea District Woman MP Anita Annet Among, “I Congratulate H.E Dr @WilliamsRuto upon election as the 5th President of Kenya. I also congratulate the people of Kenya for successfully exercising their constitutional right to elect Leaders. As Members of the East African Community, we look forward to working with you.”

President of the Republic of Zimbabwe Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, “Congratulations to @WilliamsRuto on his election as the next President of Kenya. I have no doubt he will serve his country, his people and our continent with distinction.”
