KABALE-A total of Shs65.2 million was on Sunday of the 12th of NOVEMBER, 2023 raised in both cash and pledges at a fundraising launch of the construction of the St. Peter’s Cathedral Tower.
Speaking at the function that doubled as a thanksgiving service for the Cathedral canons at St. Peter’s Cathedral Rugarama in Northern Division of Kabale Municipality, Can Eng Ivan Mbabazi Batuma stated that the Cathedral Chapter acknowledged the need for the construction of the Tower, since the building was occupied in an incomplete estate at the close of the 20th century.
Preaching during the service, the Bishop of the Diocese of Kigezi, Rt Rev Gaddie Akanjuna, asked believers and leaders to use their different God-given talents in their homes, work and service, to develop their communities and nation at large. Citing Matthew 25:14-30, the prelate asked Christians to put whatever talent and skill they possess to fulfil God’s purpose for them on earth.

The State Minister for Trade, Industry and Cooperatives, and Ndorwa West County MP, David Bahati, who was chief guest commended the church for partnering with the government to foster development in their communities through offering health and educational services. He also called upon Christians to embrace unity for the betterment of the Kigezi region. Minister Bahati contributed Shs26 million towards the construction of the Shs600 million Tower.
A total of Shs62.4 million was raised in cash and Shs2.8 million in pledges, while a kind contribution of 510 bags of cement was pledged by various politicians, clerics and people from all walks of life.
