RUBANDA –The Woman Member of Parliament for Rubanda district, Hon. Prossy Begumisa Mbabazi Akampurira, and also a commissioner in the Parliament of Uganda, urged the community to collaborate for the proper upbringing of children, aiming to reduce the prevailing moral decay.
Hon. Begumisa made this call on Sunday of the 26th of November 2023 during the induction service of Ven. Ernest Nkwasibwe as St. James Muko Archdeacon in Muko Sub-County, Rubanda district.The commissioner highlighted the current trend where parents solely rely on maternal figures for imparting moral values, contributing to increased moral decay in the community.

Hon. Begumisa emphasized that parents need to take a more active role in disciplining their children, contrasting it with a time when such responsibility was widely shared among parents. She urged parents to unite and focus on nurturing morally upright children.
Furthermore, Hon. Begumisa dispelled the notion that the government owns children, advising parents to plan for their children’s well-being. She cautioned against a false mentality and encouraged parents not to shy away from disciplining their children.
Hon. Begumisa reminded the community that government officials also have responsibilities in their homes and should not be solely relied upon for the upbringing of children.she stressed the importance of unity within the community, stating that promoting unity and love will lead to the development of their communities.
Hon. Begumisa called for a collective effort in finding solutions for the proper upbringing of children, urging everyone to contribute to building a morally sound society.
