Earlier today, a distinguished Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) delegation, led by Namibia’s President-to-be, Hon Dr. Nandi Ndaitwah Netumbo, and Uganda-Namibia Ambassador H.E Hon Godfrey Kirumira, paid a courteous visit to Hamz Stadium at Nakivubo War Memorial Grounds.
The delegation marveled at the remarkable achievements of Hamis Kiggundu, who single-handedly brought to fruition an advanced world-class stadium in Uganda. Impressed by his dedication, the President-to-be extended an invitation for Mr. Kiggundu to replicate his success in Namibia, envisioning the construction of a world-class stadium for the nation.

Mr. Kiggundu, having exclusively utilized African resources from financing to engineering in the creation of Nakivubo War Memorial Stadium, exemplifies the effectiveness of Africans in developing their continent. Now, he is poised to embark on a groundbreaking project, constructing a second national stadium for Africa in Namibia, affirming the greatness of divine intervention.
Designed to host matches for AFCON 2027, the newly constructed stadium boasts ample parking, state-of-the-art gyms, dedicated training facilities, offices, and a health facility providing essential first aid and medical attention. Hamz Stadium additionally features modern courts for basketball, netball, and a boxing ring, along with top-tier seating arrangements for VVIPs, self-contained Executive boxes, VIPs, and ordinary spectators. The facility also includes hostels for players and delegates.
This stadium, with a FIFA-approved standard-size football pitch, has received accreditation from the Confederation of African Football after a recent site visit, paving the way for AFCON 2027. It signals a call for Africans to contribute patriotically to the development of their motherland, guided by reason, reality, and divine blessings.
