Every Monday, the Uganda Police PRO brief the country on security updates. This update ranges from arrests, pending investigations to safety alerts, among other things.

Over the last few years, journalists had become used to the calm but massive frame of Fred Enanga. Enanga’s sense of humor always caught not only journalists but the whole country’s attention.
But that ended last week.
Enanga was elevated to Interpol as Deputy Director.
This meant the force had a new PRO, opened Kituuma Rusoke.
In his debut press briefing, Kituuma was confidence personified as he took journalists through the briefing.
Kituuma exuded confidence and was calculative, cracking a few jokes here and there.
There’s no doubt he was the choice for the job ahead of his colleagues in the public relations circles.
He heaped praise on his boss, the Inspector General of Police, Abbas Byakagaba, for the appointment.
“Entrusting me with this responsibility is an illustration of the trust the IGP has in me, but it is also an opportunity to grow along my career path,” he said.
He also used the address to respond to those who questioned if he would fill Enanga’s shoes. He highlighted his massive policing experience and said the lessons gained in his journey will take him through.
He previously served as Regional Police Commander for the East Kyoga, Rwizi, and Busoga East regions.
He also served as a District Police Commander in various district and has policing experience spanning almost a decade.
“I’m cognizant of the huge task ahead of me, but I pledge to commit my effort and expertise to the expectations of the IGP, Police, and the people of the Republic of Uganda,” he roared.
Afande Kituuma also acknowledged the influence and tremendous work of his predecessor, Enanga. He talked about the possibility of always reaching out to him for support and advise.
Additionally, the new police mouthpiece expressed his desire and commitment to partner with the media. He acknowledged the role of the fourth estate in policing and empowerment of citizens.
Undoubtedly, Rusoke Kituuma is perfect for the job. The country won’t miss Enanga.
Good luck, you Gunner!
